Cabbage is a cool season crop and loves a cool, moist environment. The BEST place to store your cabbage would be in a dirt floored root cellar, however, most of us do not have that option. The second best way to store your cabbage is to wrap your cabbage in a damp paper towel and place in a ventilated plastic storage bag. This is great because the refrigerator can dry the cabbage out, but wrapping it in the damp paper towel will help keep moisture on the head of the cabbage.
A couple of ways we like to give life to our cabbage is by freezing our cut cabbage for soups and casseroles or by preserving our cabbage as sauerkraut (my favorite). We hope these tips will give life to your Front Door Produce fresh vegetable box.
